My name is Ahmed Latif, I am a Canadian writer and artist from Calgary. I was a member of the amazing team at The Kallipolitan Magazine. I have a BA in Political Science and an MBA. I used to work as a political campaigner (I'm sorry) and a community activist. I also worked for a decade or so in the arts, community building, graphic design, and in the non-profit sector with vulnerable youth, immigrants, and refugees. I currently work in communications and social media.

I am passionate about what I do and what I write. And I hope you enjoy reading it anywhere near as much I enjoyed writing it.
My writing journey started when I had my first two plays mounted in 2012. After that I ventured into poetry and spoken word poetry. I founded an art forum for young minority spoken word artists so they can have a safe space to hone their craft and find their voice. It is then that I veered off again into writing short stories and novels. Currently, I write novels, screenplays, and the occasional short story. I write beyond genres because I tend to follow the story wherever it goes but I always end up seeing both humorous and social ramifications in the stories I tell.

In addition to writing and doing public readings, I also run writing workshops. The focus of my previous workshops have been storytelling, character development, and writing dialogue; as well as general workshops for new writers and hobbyists. For more information, you can contact me here.

To get to know me better, you need to know what I am reading. So here are my top ten favourite books of all-time and my current reading list. Happy Reading Comrades!
