A Thunderous Ode

9/4/2018

By Ahmed Latif

A fluttering smoke dances coquettishly.
Motes, in absence of light, float foolishly.
The smell of dawn thickens the darkness.
Timorous thoughts tantalize the tigress.
Epics and laments enliven the tale.
Hammering waves of heartfelt woe.
Vindication of the blind witness from long ago.
Horatius steadfast yet kneeling upon the bridge.
A prisoner ordained by knowledge of the fringe.
While memories trapped in amber weep and wail.

Potent light permeates towards the inundated truth.
A screaming shroud of sorrow, which none can soothe.
The mute storyteller and the deaf pupil;
A blooming battle bleeding ink, blue and brutal.
Divergent dreams abandon anchor and separately sail.
