My name is Ahmed Latif, I am a Canadian writer and artist from Calgary, Alberta. I provide social media & communications strategy & management consultation. I was a member of the writers' room at The Kallipolitan Magazine. I have a BA in Political Science from the University of Calgary and an MBA from Cambridge College in Boston, Massachusetts.
I used to work as a political campaigner and a community activist, focusing on programs for youth from under-served communities and frontline community-building. I write articles, the occasional short story, and I'm currently working on longer works such as screenplays & world/character arc design for video games. I find passion in what I do & what I write. I hope you enjoy reading it anywhere near as much I enjoyed writing it! |

My writing journey started when I had my first two plays mounted in 2012. After that, I ventured into poetry and performing spoken word in Calgary. I founded an art forum for young minority spoken word artists so they can have a safe space to hone their craft and find their voice. It is then that I veered off again into writing short stories and novels. I kept on learning and changing so I can write in any voice (like a written impressionist) and be adaptive to other new mediums. I write beyond genres because I tend to follow the story wherever it goes but I always end up seeing both the humorous and socio-political in the stories I tell.
In addition to writing and doing public readings, I also run writing workshops. The focus of my previous workshops has been storytelling, character development, world/lore building, and writing dialogue; as well as general workshops for new writers and hobbyists. For more information, you can contact me. Thank you for reading!!!
